Deckchairs & Haberdashery :)

Good evening - how was your weekend?

Ours was mainly soggy - though the sun finally peaked out this afternoon.

Saturday morning dawned grey & damp :( We'd decided that we were going out whatever the weather as there was somewhere we wanted to visit.  Big son's school have taken part in a 'design a deckchair' event organised by our local hospice - see here. We went to have a look as his design was included in the book of designs by other children from his school.  One of my friends daughters won the competition - this is her design;
There were lots of others by many famous faces - here are just a small selection - loads more on the website;
Antony Horowitz

David Mckee - my favourite

Helen Oxenbury

Catherine Anholt

The event is touring the local area and is definitely worth a looksie :)

Whilst we were in Halesworth, we split into 2 groups - the menfolk going off in search of more home-brewing stuff and me in search of haberdashery. Everyone was happy - the boys have 2 more types of beer to brew (for a party in the summer) and I have some pretty fabric & ribbons;

I also found the most wonderful organic/fair trade food & gift shop - I'd heard about it but never been (Halesworth is someone I've not visited for about 10+ years!). We stocked up on some scrummy olives to go with lunch and a few chocolate treats for me & the boys ;)

In the afternoon Little Son headed to school!! His brass group were playing for an open afternoon to celebrate the school centenary - rather ironic that the same school is due to close due to re-organisation in 2012 :(

This morning we had planned to head to a couple of local bootsales - despite the grey & dampness, MrVV & I did just that - the boys opted to stay at home in the warm & dry.  There weren't too many stalls or booters and to be honest the bargains were pretty thin on ground. However I didn't come home empty handed;

Buttons & a ladybird book (from the last stall I looked at!)

Lets hope the sunshine remains with us this week - I thought I could safely pack my winter woolies & boots away but in the past couple of days they've come back out :(

What a lovely cheering post Vicki! Those deckchair designs are such fun - why not a pic of your son's design though? Have missed my car boot/flea market fixes for two weeks now due to circumstances - really feeling bereft. And somehow charity shops are not doing it for me lately. Think there's a real air of uncertainty around at the moment.

Oh I so love Mr Ben! I had been determined to live a year without a diary this year but cracked last month at the Museum when I found a Mr Ben planner in the boutique! Our weekend has been full of cleaning and thankfully, food-thanks for asking!!

I LOVE those deckchairs, and hospices are very close to my heart as the Edinburgh one is so wonderful to my parents.

Your finds are lovely and that new shop does sound great!

Did you see my daughter's design? Must get over for a look sometime...
The organic shop has a smaller one in Southwold, I think?
Love the fabric - looks like another good shop to check out.

I also went to a carboot sale over the weekend but alas not a lot of bargains to be had. My woolies are back out but according to Country File It should be getting warmer. Love the ribbons by the way.

Those deckchairs are great. We saw some last weekend and I've got a poster of them. I am quite tempted to go to the auction in October to bid on one!

those deck chairs are fabulous ! Luckily the rain held off here though it was very grey. I watered my potted plants thinking....it's going to rain...but it didn't !

Great designs on those deck chairs! Our local car boot was abysmal..only ten tables and a load of tat...but not nice tat.
Looks like next weekend should be better weather wise.
