A quiet weekend

Good evening

Just for a change we decided that we'd have a quiet weekend - no going out - just a weekend at home. When I first started blogging I wrote about the Wonderful Weekend Book by Elspeth Thompson and how I loved the idea of reclaiming weekends. Well it was a habit we kept to for a while but then things got hectic - boys have places to be and people to see and of course there have been some great family days out over the summer. However this weekend was going to be reclaimed - its started with a lie-in :)

The weather helped - it was really quite soggy here for most of Saturday afternoon and all of Sunday - just the sort of weather to keep you indoors doing home stuff. Firstly there was;

Jam making - Apple & Blackberry

There were 6 jars - one was given to a friend as a thank you and another swiped by the boys before it could be photographed!!

Then there was finishing off of various sewing/knitting projects - I can't show you most of them as they are destined for swaps. I did finish my purple scarf though - rather handy as its been so cold;

Sunday afternoon was particularly chilly, however MrVV insisted it was still shorts weather so I was surprised to see him wrapped up in one of my quilts watching the Grand Prix;

More baking was needed - well you need something to go with mugs of tea;

Blueberry muffins - yum yum

Back in blogland - don't forget that I shall be drawing my mystery blog birthday giveaway on Wednesday. Also I've just signed up for my first Christmas swap - (its a Secret Santa one)over @ Laalaa's - go on have a look, you know you want to take part too, it should be great fun.

See you soon

The book looks interesting, I have just checked to see if it is in my library as I fancy a weekend like yours!

One of the things I like about the colder months is that we seem to "reclaim" more of our weekends. While it is lovely to be out and about in summer it can all get a bit too hectic and leave little time to relax and do the things you really want to do. xxx

What a great weekend. I can relate to Mr VV and the quilt..I have just brought out the fleece blanket which spends the winter months draped over the arm of one of the settees in our snug. The slightest drop in temperature sees me snuggled under it, usually propped up with cushions and head in a book....devine!
Ps the jam looks yummy ..and blueberry muffins..my favourites.

Looks like a nice relaxing weekend. The scarf is so pretty and the jam looks delish. Why do men insist on wearing shorts when it is cold outside? My Buster does the same thing then he wants me to turn on the heat. He does have a Snuggy now. Have those made it over to England yet? Love the quilt.

I left a comment but I think naughty blogger/computer lost it! So I'll try again ;-)

We now spend most of our weekends at home as it is just too stressful to try and get DS2 to go anywhere (his autism makes him very difficult as he doesn't like going out) so I miss the weekends when we used to visit EH and NT properties etc... Saying that I did go out this weekend :-)

I love your jam it looks very scrummy that picture or your hubby under the quilt is just perfect!

I have just finished reading that book! It encouraged us to have a more relaxing weekend, and we all felt so much better for it. Your jam and blueberry muffins look yummy and you inspired me to join in the Secret Santa swap too - my first for a while! xx

That looks like a lovely way to spend a weekend.
It's so sad about Elspeth though isn't it?

I think that home was the best place to be - wasn't the weather just pants. Happy Anniversary for tomorrow (if I remember correctly). I wish you both a happy, peaceful day.xx

Wish I'd had a quite weekend - spent Sunday traipsing round Ipswich clothes shopping. At least it didn't rain there.
Does MrVV know that you put silly pictures of him on your blog?

Quiet weekends are far and few between with children aren't they?! Always best to make the most of them when they are quiet. x

ARGGHH you are so right -- looking at the CK prices in US dollars make them REAL!! So expensive! It looks so much better in pounds...

What I wouldn't do for a lie-in, can't really remember what that's like. Love the pic of MrVV, very sweet!
