Show & Tell Sunday

Josie-Mary is running a new theme - Show & Tell Sunday's - once a month she'll choose a theme and we get to do a school style show & tell :)

This month the theme is a favourite cosy space.  There is no contest in my house as to which space this is - anyone coming here for the first time would be able to spot where Vicki spends lots of time ;)

This spot is the corner of our kitchen - we're lucky that this room is big (one of the reasons I like this house).  When we viewed the house I could instantly see there would be room for a sofa in the kitchen something I'd always wanted.  The dresser is built in - and again I could see the cupboards would be great for my collection of vintage china & other clutter.  Look closely at the picture and you can see other signs of me - patchwork quilt & cushions, a granny blanket, my knitting basket, a CK bag, a sewing box, a pile of books & magazines, a jug of spring flowers, lots of daggly 'dust-catchers', some bunting and last but not least the square I'm currently knitting for my blanket.

Off out into the real world today - going over the border to visit friends in Essex.

Looking forward to seeing what others post later.

Slightly obsessed with pink flowers?????

I never realised that I had a pink floral obsession until a year or so ago the boys both commented on it - I'd just bought something (can't remember what) and they both groaned that yet again it had pink flowers on it.  This lead me to look around the house more carefully - tea/coffee tins with pink flowers on them, several bags, duvet covers, ironing board covers, clothes and even sandals!!

This week has seen several more pink flowers arrived too -

This dress which was a last minute purchase when I was shopping with my sister the other day (she bought me the Russian doll necklace);

These very kitsch flowers which brighten up the windowsill in my sewing/spare room;

Even this wrapping paper has them on - along with anothere recurring theme - polka dots;

Can't show you any WIP at the moment as its mainly for the swap I'm taking part in ;)

Spring continues to be making a real effort here - today has been sunny and I noticed on my cycle into town that there are several spring flowers putting in appearances in the verges & gardens :)

See you soon

So far - so good :)

March started well - sunshine, a giveaway win and then an award :)

This one - from Bellaboo @ Bellacountry ;

I've got to tell you 7 things about me -

1. I was born in Berlin as my Dad was stationed in Germany with the RAF - and despite all the teasing at school that makes me British.

2. I've not flown in an aeroplane since I was 2 1/2 when my parents moved back to the UK.

3. Apart from my large collection of siblings (6), I've got an enormous family on my Dad's side - remaining are - 1 Grandma, 9 Uncles, 8 Aunts, 20 1st cousins, 5 2nd cousins & 1 3rd cousin - plus loads of great aunts & uncles!

4. I've appeared on Saturday Superstore with my high school wind-band - I played the tamborine :)

5. I don't drive - tried learning hated it and tbh wasn't any good at it.

6. My worst ever hangover was the result of an evening with Country Girl, MrCG & MrVV.

7. Mr Country Girl was best man @ our wedding.

Now need to pass this award on some other people - no idea how many - think its supposed to be 5 - so I'll aim for that too.  This is the part I always find difficult - if I've not choosen you its not personal - just these 5 sprung to mind today;

I've also signed myself up for this;

@ http://josie-mary.blogspot.com/2010/02/whats-in-bag.html- have a look you might want to join in too.

Off now to leave messages for my award receipients and then I'm off out today shopping with one of my sisters - wonder what bargains we'll find?

See you soon

A weekend of contrasts

Good evening

Well Saturday was a treat - sunshine, blue skies and most importantly no rain :)

The boys went off to play badminton together, MrVV went off to take part in his band recording and I was left to my own devices :)  As it was nice I cycled into town to get a few bits & pieces.  I treated myself to a magazine - this months Good Homes Mag. My goodness its not often I get an extra mag these days but this one was well worth it - lots of articles, plenty of colour and inspiration.

In the afternoon I settled down in my sewing room - I wanted to get another ragdoll finished. Her she is with her friend;

Am already planning on making another one - there's a chance of selling some stuff @ a craft fair in May and I've been offered the chance to put items into a local shop too :)

Back to the Good Homes mag ;

Apart from the CK article there's one house in there that wouldn't look out of place in blogland;

Loving the random knitted blanket

A girl can never have enough bags ;)
I love this dresser too.

The weather today has not been great - woke to the sound of rain hammering at the windows.  As MrVV was out again today, the boys & I have kept ourselves amused indoors.

Little son is doing a project in History about the 1960's and the Beatles so we've been busy contacting grandparents & friends to ask them some questions for his homework.  We've also had various Beatles cd's on full blast - had forgotten how good some of their stuff is.  Have also been googling information so he now knows more about the Fab Four.

Have been continuing with my knitting - progress now charted in my sidebar ;)

Lastly I've been playing with my layout & header.  I took the header pic to go on some invitations I need to send to family to my birthday tea-party next month and thought that Jane, Rabbit & Orange would make a new spring header too :)

BTW - Fridays concert was quite good - little sons band of course were excellent.  However I do wish they'd heat our church as I was frozen stiff by the end of the evening!!

Flowery Friday

Seems today has been renamed on so many blogs, so I thought I'd join in ;)

I'd not want to be a flower outside today - its been so blustery here in Suffolk after a night of torrential rain. When I cycled into town it was as much as I could do to stay upright - even worse on the way home with a full basket - the wind kept trying to blow me over :(

Anyhow - flowers :)

Flowery plate from the CS - been tempted all week to get this - finally gave in today ;)

Paper whites & tete-a-tete - a heavenly scent

The first crocuses have braved the weather

A lonely snowdrop & its bud friend

Ok so not flowers but these little butterfly cups made me think of sunny days with butterflies all over the buddleia.

Need to wrap up warm tonight - off to see little son in a concert @ the church.  Expecting him home in a little while for a quick 1/2 hour turn round - shower, change & grab a packed tea before he's off to rehersals.

Planning a quiet weekend here for the boys & I as MrVV is busy with his brass band all weekend.  Hoping to get some sewing finished - some I can show you next week and some which has to remain a secret ;)

Ever lost your arm in a CK messenger bag?

As the title suggests - have you?  I've had my bag for nearly a year now and am still amazed at how much I can fit into it.  Its great for days out as it can be worn across the body - I added a zip to make it extra secure when I took it to a festival last summer.   However I regularly lose my arm into it whilst searching for something - today is was my phone. Could hear it ringing but couldn't find it!!

Contents - one CK purse (filled mainly with receipts), CK camera case, pink phone, Ipod touch, sunglasses
& their case, bus/train timetable (am a non driver), reuable shopping bag, purple gloves, spotty notebook containing lists, hair appointment card & some painkillers.  Also in there is one of the free CK clear wallets;

Last ever payslip, spare strap jibbits for crocs, spare car key, CK lipsalve, tissues, 2 pens, antibac hand gel, Olbas oil inhaler, felted glasses case (no glasses), chewing gum and a insect bite zapper.

The phone call that started this? A wrong number!!
